Designing an industry leading resin modeling application. 

It all started with a massive Excel workbook   

Purolite Corporation manufactures ion exchange resins that are used across the globe in product manufacturing applications. Designing a resin plant involves calulating thousands of variables with intricate relationships.

Purolite's goal was to create a free web app for customers to model new and existing resin plants. Up until now, they had been sending customers a massive Excel workbook and spending countless hours on troubleshooting and support.

Complex Subject Matter

The ion exchange processes and data relationships are very complex. This made it challenging to design the visual hierarchies. To overcome this challenge, I interviewed 6 Purolite customers to better understand how they will use this product and what metrics were most important to them throughout the process.
